Webelos Badge Requirements
Webelos
- Webelos dens are for boys who have completed third grade (or reached age 9-10).
- A boy may begin working on the Webelos badge as soon as he joins a Webelos den. This is the first step in his transition from the Webelos den to the Boy Scout troop. As he completes the requirements found in the Webelos Scout Book, he will work on activity badges, attend meetings led by adults, and become familiar with the Boy Scout requirements all leading to the Arrow of Light Award.
- After he has earned his Webelos badge, a Webelos Scout may work on additional activities. Upon completing four activities the Webelos Scout earns the Compass Points emblem. For each four additional activities completed the Webelos Scout earns a Compass Point to attach to the Compass Points emblem.
Arrow of Light
- The highest rank in Cub Scouting is the Arrow of Light Award. Earning this rank prepares a Webelos Scout to become a Boy Scout. Webelos Scouts who have earned the Arrow of Light Award have also completed all requirements for the Boy Scout badge.
- This award is the only Cub Scout badge that can be worn on the Boy Scout uniform when a boy graduates into a troop.
The Webelos Program is a two year program for Fourth and Fifth Grade Boys. In both years, they work toward earning Webelos Activity Badges in twenty different areas, arranged in five groups. Fourth Grade Boys work toward the Webelos Badge. Fifth Graders, after earning the Webelos Badge, earn the Arrow of Light. In addition to the two rank badges, after earning the Webelos Badge, boys work toward the Compass Point Emblem and Metal Compass Points as they earn additional Activity Badges
After earning the Webelos badge, Webelos can earn the compass points emblem. It is awarded after earning seven activity badges, four more in addition to the three already earned for the Webelos badge. The compass points emblem is worn attached to the button on the right pocket of the Webelos uniform shirt. After earning the compass points emblem, Webelos l receive a metal compass point for each four additional activity badges earned. The compass points are pinned on the emblem in the "E," "W," or "S" in any order chosen.
The emblem and all three compass points are earned by completing 19 activity badges, including the three required for the Webelos Badge.
